Project Location:
Peru
Project Goals:

To reduce land abandonment and land degradation in the Peruvian Amazon through data-driven policy responses. The development of a database of land ownership and occupation characteristics in Peru will enable the Botanical Garden's researchers to assess the effects of existing public and private development programs on land use practices, and subsequently develop policy recommendations for diminishing the potential for land abandonment. The results of these efforts will be distributed to regional and provincial authorities, in order to better inform policy makers throughout the country.
