Project Location:
Argentina
Project Goals:

To create a model for budgetary analysis that focuses on education and other social programs. In the past, budgetary analysis has been useful in determining how the state allocation of funds has had direct impact on educational opportunity in given neighborhoods. Working from this model, Asociacion Civil por la Igualdad y la Justicia will monitor the development and implementation of education and social program allocations and expenditures in the 2010 budget of the City of Buenos Aires. The organization plans to submit its observations, along with brief reports, to legislators and civil society groups. Through this careful budget analysis, the organization hopes to highlight the importance of budgets as tools for the allocation of public goods and as a means for redistributing income and defining spending priorities in order to improve the Argentinean educational system.
