Cuba Emprende Foundation drives technical and advisory support to Cuba’s entrepreneurial sector

Tinker Foundation grantee, Cuba Emprende Foundation, was an instrumental driver of the 10x10kCuba contest to provide technical and advisory support to Cuba’s entrepreneurial sector. The idea for the contest first emerged during the 2016 AngelSummit in Miami and was launched shortly thereafter. The contest netted 88 applications from tech-enabled businesses across Cuba, not only benefitting Cuban entrepreneurs, but also raising the profile of Cuba’s private tech sector to U.S. companies, accelerators and universities. The 10 selected winners received donated hardware, software and a two-week visit to a leading accelerator providing them with hands-on experiences with industry-renowned mentors, dynamic workspaces, and customized curriculum.
