Project Goals: 

This grant will support the Resources for the Future’s efforts to evaluate the impacts of natural protected areas on deforestation and rural poverty in Mexico to ensure that policy makers in are using the scarce resources available for forest conservation efficiently and equitably within the country. The organization will conduct statistical analyses of conservation and economic impacts of natural protected areas (NPAs). From this analysis, Resources for the Future will develop policy recommendations for designing and citing NPAs. In addition, the organization’s findings will be published in electronic and print formats as well as presented in meetings with policy and academic communities.
