Project Location:
United States
Project Goals:

To preserve an historical ethnobiographic film series, The Argentine Gaucho Today that captured the fast-disappearing lifestyles of Argentina's rural communities. The films were commissioned by Dr. Edward Larocque Tinker in 1961 and produced by Jorge PrelorĂ¡n. In collaboration with the Smithsonian Institute's Human Studies Film Archives, which recently accepted PrelorĂ¡n's catalogue of film documentaries because of their importance to the field of anthropology, the University's Harry Ransom Center will restore and preserve the films for distribution to a wide audience.
