To increase competitiveness of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Brazil. Focusing on SME competitiveness in the IT sector, the research examines three main areas: federal and state-level policies which either advance or impede competitiveness; firm-level initiatives that can be undertaken to improve competitiveness; and measures federal and state-level institutions can implement to aid SME growth.
