Project Goals: 

This grant supports Tlachinollan Grupo de Apoyo a los Pueblos Indios de la Montana's efforts to improve the performance, accountability and accessibility of police institutions in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. The project will focus on promoting and supervising the Civilian Monitor of Police and Security Forces (MOCIPOL), a group dedicated to external oversight of police that is in its early stages, and to ensure that police forces also recognize the value of the program. The Tlachinollan Grupo will be responding to complaints from citizens and the police, strengthening the Civilian Monitor's office, analyzing police organization practices. By fostering improved interactions with public authorities, the organization hopes to ensure that police are accountable to civilian populations.
