Vance Center Latin Lawyer Survey

The Vance Center, in partnership with Latin Lawyer magazine, has released a survey showing the growth of pro bono practice in Latin America during the period 2012 – 2013. As in the previous year, law firms throughout the region are largely fulfilling their commitments to the Pro Bono Declaration of the Americas, with some variation from country to country, differences in participation levels correlated to law firm size, and greater participation by junior attorneys vs. more senior ones.  The report highlights conversations with leaders throughout the region:

“Barriers, opportunities, attitudes and organisation levels vary between legal markets, and many countries are going through hugely important, yet very different, stages of the evolution towards having a mature pro bono system. Clearinghouse leaders and lawyers known for their commitment to pro bono share their stories…”
